VinFast VF 3 is the car of 2024

VinFast VF 3 won by an overwhelming margin in the most important category of the Car Awards, counting all 4 past seasons. The small electric car surpassed the innovative 5th generation Hyundai Santa Fe, as well as the rising star Mitsubishi Xforce in the sales front. VF 3 won 33 points from the jury, followed by Santa Fe - 23 points and Xforce - 21 points.

When the VF 3 was announced, the jury members and hundreds of guests at the Vietnam Sustainable Vehicle Exhibition all gave a round of applause. After 4 times of organizing the Car Awards, this is a rare time that the evaluations of readers and auto experts found a common point in the Car of the Year category. This reflects the values ​​that VF 3 creates, enough to satisfy both the majority of customers and the most demanding users.

Finding the Car of the Year 2024 named VinFast VF 3 also marks the end of the more than 5-month journey of Car Awards. In this year's organization, the organizing committee including car evaluation experts tested dozens of new car models launched in 2024, across the country's roads, with a rolling distance of thousands of kilometers.

A series of criteria were set such as the ability to update, suggest new trends, the ability to reach customers with the convenience and efficiency of the accompanying equipment... for the journey of evaluating the nominated car models. After all, VF 3 is the most outstanding product, surpassing its competitors and also possessing many advantages, especially the price for the majority.

The victory of VF 3 is the recognition of experts for VinFast, a brand that is still a controversial name, between love and hate. It has been many years since the domestic car market had a car model that attracted such special attention from the public. Compact, masculine design in the style of a high-chassis SUV, with just enough functionality for the main need of moving in urban areas, VinFast VF 3 is an interesting consideration for first-time car owners or those who are interested in styling and upgrading equipment.

The 2024 Car Awards also found models that were superior in many aspects compared to their competitors. Among them, Kia Sonet was named Car of the Year in the A+ CUV segment. This is the first time a Kia model has won an award organized by VnExpress. Surpassing its competitors in the B-segment low-chassis vehicle segment, Hyundai Accent also won the title for the first time. Accent's victory overwhelmed the next model, BYD Dolphin, by a gap of 13 points.

There were no surprises in the B-class SUV segment when the newcomer to the market - Mitsubishi Xforce was rated the highest by the judges. Mitsubishi's model is having a booming sales period when it surpassed the 10,000 vehicle mark after only 8 months, among the fastest in the Vietnamese market in the past 5 years.

The Crosstrek brought home the only award for Subaru in the B+ CUV segment. Overcoming the Toyota Corolla Cross is not easy, and this is reflected in the score that the Crosstrek is slightly better at, just less than one point.

The C-segment SUV segment witnessed the rise of VinFast VF 7. The gap between VinFast and its second-place competitor, Lynk & Co 05, was 12 points. This was one of the most overwhelming victories of this year's Car Awards season. Together with VF 3, VF 7 created a double award for the brand that sold the most cars in Vietnam by October 2024.

In the remaining categories, Toyota Camry is the Car of the Year in the D-segment sedan segment. Hyundai Santa Fe is the top pick in the D-segment SUV group, Viloran is the highest rated in the D+E MPV group. Lynk & Co 06 is the Promising Car of the Year 2024. In the pickup segment alone, it is no surprise that Ford Ranger is the model with the highest score. The gap between Ranger's score and its rival Mitsubishi Triton is up to 12 points.
