With 100% of students winning medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at this year's International Physics Olympiad, a result that is also better than in 2023.
On the morning of July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the official results of the Vietnam National Team participating in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held in Iran. Accordingly, 5/5 students won medals, including 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals.
Specifically, the gold medals went to Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung, both 12th graders at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province.
The three silver medal winners were Nguyen Nhat Minh, grade 12, High School for Gifted Students of Natural Sciences, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Ha Duyen Phuc, grade 12, Lam Son High School for Gifted Students, Thanh Hoa Province; and Nguyen Thanh Duy, grade 12, Tran Phu High School for Gifted Students, Hai Phong City.
The 54th International Physics Olympiad will be held in Iran from July 21 to July 29, 2024.
According to the regulations of the IPhO Council 2024, the exam consists of 1 theoretical exam and 1 practical exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours.
This year's exam is considered interesting and difficult. The theoretical and practical exam content is closely related to real life and touches on applications of modern science and technology.
To win a gold medal, contestants must be in the top 8% of contestants with the highest scores.
With 100% of students winning medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results in this year's exam. This result is also better than in 2023 (the Vietnamese team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal).
This year, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students have improved significantly compared to exams in recent years.
The excellent achievements of the Vietnam National Team at IPhO 2024 continue to affirm the quality of general education and the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
