On the afternoon of April 25, at the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to reporters' questions about Vietnam's response to the 2023 Human Rights Report of the United States released on April 22, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang said that although the US State Department's annual Human Rights Report reflects Vietnam's achievements and progress in protecting human rights, it unfortunately continues to make some subjective comments based on inaccurate information about the actual situation in Vietnam.
Once again, Vietnam affirms its consistent policy of protecting and promoting human rights, considering people as the center and driving force of the innovation process and national development.
Basic human rights and freedoms are recognized in the Vietnamese Constitution, protected and promoted by specific legal documents and implemented in practice.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized that Vietnam has been and will have frank, open and constructive exchanges with the United States on remaining issues to enhance understanding and thereby contribute more positively to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the United States.
