More than a week before the April 30 holiday, many flights such as Hanoi - Phu Quoc have high prices, and some days all direct flights are sold out.

On the morning of April 19, the round-trip flight from Hanoi to Phu Quoc from April 27 to April 30 had the lowest price of 5.7 million VND, with bad flight times (departure at 16:40, return at 7:45). On April 27, there was only one direct flight from Hanoi to Phu Quoc at 3.3 million VND, the remaining 3 direct flights were all over 4 million VND. The best round-trip flight for the period from April 27 to 30 cost about 7.6 million VND (departure at 10:15, return at 9:10). The price for April 27 to 30 was double that of a week earlier - 3.4 million VND.

There are 4 direct flights from Phu Quoc to Hanoi on April 30, but no direct flights from May 1. Normally, there are about 6 direct flights from Phu Quoc to Hanoi every day.

There are no more direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc on April 27, there are 5 flights on April 28 - prices range from 1.5 to 1.9 million VND. There are two direct flights on April 30 and May 1 - prices range from 1.8 million VND. On weekdays, there are about 13 direct flights from Phu Quoc to Ho Chi Minh City each day.

The average round trip for this route from April 27-30 or May 1 is about 3.7 million VND. If you travel right before the holiday (April 24-27), you will pay about 1.7 million VND.

A month ago, a reporter's survey showed that the lowest round-trip ticket price for the Hanoi - Phu Quoc route from April 27-30 was about 5 million VND. On weekdays, round-trip airfare from Hanoi to Phu Quoc ranges from 2.8-4 million VND, and from Ho Chi Minh City around 2.5 million VND.

According to data from Mustgo, a booking platform with more than 2,000 hotel partners nationwide, room occupancy in Phu Quoc on April 30 only fluctuated between 25-45%, mostly foreign guests, with few domestic guests due to the impact of airfares. According to a representative of this unit, resorts and hotels in Phu Quoc are mainly in the 4-5 star segment, with a large number of rooms, mostly 300-700 rooms, with some hotels having more than 1,000 rooms. Therefore, filling up rooms in Phu Quoc even during the holidays is difficult.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dat, Vice President of the Capital Tourism Club, commented that the Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City - Phu Quoc route has few tickets, and is sold out on some days, due to higher demand during the holidays but airlines lack planes.

The story of "overhead" (busy afternoon, slow afternoon) has caused airlines to not or not open more flights on some days. For example, on May 1, most of the passengers from Phu Quoc returned to the two big cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, but few passengers from these two places flew to Phu Quoc, so the airline's operation will not be effective. According to Mr. Dat, when arriving in Phu Quoc at the end of last year, the number of domestic passengers was "very low" compared to international passengers.

Previously, data from Agoda showed that domestic tourists tend to travel from April 26 to April 30, with the most booked day being April 27. A representative of Viet Tourism Company also shared that after the 5-day holiday proposal was approved, the period from April 27 to April 30 or April 28 to May 1 could be considered the "hottest" holiday.

Meanwhile, some travel agencies in Da Lat also complained that the "hot" airfare situation will cause them to lose a large number of Northern customers on the occasion of April 30. As of April 19, hotels, including those in prime locations in the city center, still have many vacant rooms.

The lowest round-trip airfare from Hanoi to Da Lat from April 27-30 is about 4 million VND, and there are almost no good times left. This is the general price for this route at the end of April. From April 30, airfare will return to normal, about 2.8 million VND round-trip.

Meanwhile, airfare from Hanoi to Nha Trang on April 27-30 is around 4.3 million VND, an increase of about 1 million VND compared to the period right before the holiday. From Ho Chi Minh City, the lowest round-trip fare is around 2.7 million VND - at a high level according to data from Google. However, the room occupancy rate in Nha Trang is better than Phu Quoc because it has the advantage of road connection with Ho Chi Minh City and the Central Highlands.

There are many options for customers on the Hanoi - Da Nang route from April 27-30, with the lowest price being around 4 million VND round trip, flights at good times cost over 6.5 million VND - the average price for this route on weekdays is around 2.5-3.5 million VND. The route from Ho Chi Minh City during the same period has the lowest price of 3.4 million VND, flights at good times cost over 4 million VND - about 1 million VND higher than the average.

Despite high airfares, Da Nang is still a top destination for tourists, according to Mustgo. Representatives of many travel agencies also confirmed that this city is always the choice of tourists during the holidays. The advantage of Da Nang is its convenient connection to central provinces such as Quang Nam and Thua Thien Hue; the flight distance from two major cities, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, is short.

According to many travel agencies, high airfares affect the decision to travel domestically during the holidays. Tourists choose to travel abroad with overland tours to Southeast Asia and China. In addition, the trend of traveling nearby by private car to save costs is still increasing strongly.
