According to the railway planning proposed for approval by the Ministry of Transport, the Hanoi - Lao Cai - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh railway route has 40.97km passing through Hai Duong province.
The railway route passing through Lao Cai province is 64.82 km long; through Yen Bai is 76.95 km long; through Phu Tho is 60.05 km; through Vinh Phuc is 41.75 km; through Hanoi and Bac Ninh province is 40.93 km; through Hung Yen is 18.57 km; through Hai Duong is 40.97 km.
The route through Hai Phong city alone is 81.66 km long, of which: The main route to Lach Huyen port is 46.25 km long; the branch route to Nam Do Son port is 12.63 km long; the branch route to Dinh Vu port is 7.88 km long; the branch route connecting Quang Ninh province is 14.9 km long.
Finally, the section passing through Quang Ninh province is 36.62 km long, of which the newly constructed line is 25.95 km long; the existing railway line is 10.67 km long.
The planned route has 41 stations, including mixed stations, freight stations and technical stations. The route is also planned to have about 145 bridges with a length of 106.628 km crossing major rivers such as the Red River, Lo River, Bach Dang River and overpasses on highways such as Hanoi - Lao Cai, Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, national highways and some provincial roads.
The project also has about 42 tunnels with a length of 23.28 km in the two provinces of Lao Cai and Yen Bai.
