England U21 coach Lee Carsley has been on the radar of the Football Association and has officially become the interim coach of the England team on August 9. On the day of his appointment, Mr. Lee Carsley expressed his joy at leading the England team: "It is an honor to become the interim coach of the England team. I am very familiar with the players and the coaching work at the national teams.
"So it makes sense for me to take charge of the England team while the Football Association is recruiting a new manager. My main priority is to ensure continuity and our aim is to secure promotion to the UEFA Nations League."
The Football Association has announced that Lee Carsley will take charge of England for their UEFA Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland in September. The 50-year-old will name his squad for the two UEFA Nations League matches on August 29.
FA Chief Executive Mark Bullingham praised Carsley: "Lee is a fantastic coach, having worked at a number of clubs and at almost every level of the national team. He is a fantastic interim solution and we are confident he will do well in the UEFA Nations League. We are very grateful to Lee for stepping in to coach the team while the FA continues its recruitment process."
In the summer of 2023, coach Lee Carsley impressed when he helped the England U21 team win the European U21 Championship.
