The notable new point of Circular 30/TT-BGDĐT recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training is that the same subject cannot be chosen as the third exam subject for grade 10 for more than 3 consecutive years.
According to the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training, the 2025-2026 school year is the first year that the 10th grade high school exam is organized according to the new 2018 general education program. Compared to the old program, many subjects with new names are taught integratedly such as natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology); history and geography (history, geography).
According to Circular 30/TT-BGDDT of the Ministry of Education and Training on the regulations for junior high school and high school admissions, which has just been issued and will take effect from February 14, 2025, provinces can choose to take entrance exams, consider admission to grade 10 of high school or combine them. For the entrance exam, the exam includes: math, literature and a third subject or test selected by the Department of Education and Training.
The third subject is selected by the Department of Education and Training from subjects assessed by scores, including: foreign language 1, civics, natural sciences, history and geography, technology, and information technology. Accordingly, the third subject can be a natural science subject consisting of 3 sub-subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, or a history and geography subject consisting of history and geography. Thus, the exam will not be a single subject of physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, but can be an integrated exam of these sub-subjects according to each subject group.
Another notable new point is not to choose the same third exam subject for more than 3 consecutive years, from the date this circular takes effect.
The third exam or combined exam of a number of subjects is announced after the end of semester I but no later than March 31 every year.
