The 2-storey building with 11 classrooms of Tien Dong Secondary School (Tu Ky, Hai Duong) was built decades ago and is now in disrepair.
The ceilings of some classrooms are leaking and covered with green moss. The plaster on the walls is peeling off in many places, and the floors are constantly falling apart. The ceilings in the hallways are also peeling off in many places, and the beams and columns are cracked in many places. The classrooms are cramped, only about 40 square meters per room. The school has repaired them twice.
Due to the increase in the number of students and lack of classrooms, Tien Dong Secondary School has to divide the students into 2 sessions per day. In the morning, they teach 2 grades, in the afternoon, they teach 2 grades.
In 2021, the construction of a 3-storey building with 9 classrooms brought joy to the school, students and people of Tien Dong commune. According to the plan, it was completed around 2022, but until now the project has not been completed.
Currently, the project still lacks a heat-resistant roof system, electrical system, stair railings, and door bars. The reason is that the contractor is slow in construction. For 5 months now, there has not been a single person working on the project.
Unfortunately, although the project has not been put into use yet, some cracks have appeared on the walls. Because the roof has not been made to prevent heat, rainwater has flooded the floor, and over time the wall area near the stairs has become damp and moldy. Seeing the project being wasted makes the people of Tien Dong commune feel heartbroken.
