Truong Minh Cuong returns in "Flip Side 7" after 12 years of "disappearance" from the screen

Director Ly Hai just held a launch event for the film's cast.Flip Side 7: A WishThis is the project that brings together the largest cast of actors ever by Ly Hai, with 50 actors, including 15 main and supporting actors.

The film script was inspired by Ly Hai's own daily stories in his family and was written since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. After more than 3 years of "gestation", Ly Hai decided to bring his work to the big screen.

Notably, the film marks the return of Truong Minh Cuong after 12 years of absence from the screen. The actor revealed that during more than a decade of settling in the US, he faced many incidents and suffered from depression, which almost affected his life.

Talking about returning to acting, Truong Minh Cuong said he was chosen to participate.Flip Side 7because of his similar fate to the character. However, he still had to go through audition rounds as requested by director Ly Hai.

"I remember sitting in a crowded coffee shop in America, but had to audition online according to the director's request. I cried right there in the coffee shop,"He recounted that returning to Vietnam to make a film this time was a difficult decision because before, he had "disappeared" when he was loved by many people.

"I felt guilty because I wasn't successful afterwards. I felt guilty and knew I had to fix my mistakes. When I first practiced my lines at director Ly Hai's house, I cried. I remember the feeling of eating with the film crew. It wasn't delicious food, but I was very happy.

My purpose in coming back is not for glory or fame, but to show my passion. I am ready to die on stage, die on set."The actor confided.

Ly Hai said,Flip Side 7will be dressed in a completely new "coat" and the audience will also see a completely different Ly Hai from the previous parts. With this work, he wants to prove that he does not only know how to make action films or be "boxed" in a certain genre of film.

The director also said that he made part 7 with a relaxed mindset and did not focus too much on revenue:“In the past, revenue was very important to me. I always prayed that the film would not lose money so that my wife and I would not have to sell our house.

But not now. I have never given any number in mind, the important thing is how to make my product the best, most meticulous compared to the previous parts, then everyone will love and support the film. And if you ask me if I feel any pressure when making this part 7, I really don't feel any pressure at the moment."

Producer Minh Ha said that this will be the part of the film with the most settings. The scenes will be spread from the South to the North, up to the mountains and down to the sea.

“Choosing a setting that spans the entire country will pose many difficulties and challenges for the crew. However, in addition to the goal of bringing beautiful, vivid frames to the film, this decision is also in line with the desire to contribute to promoting Vietnamese culture and tourism through films that are deeply imbued with Vietnamese culture,”Minh Ha confided.

Flip Side 7: A Wishwill start filming on December 12 with an expected filming time of 1.5 months. Before that, the actors had many weeks of training together.

The film is expected to be released on April 30 - May 1, 2024.
