President Xi Jinping affirmed that China wishes to work with Indonesia to write a new chapter of self-reliance, solidarity and cooperation, with mutual benefit as major developing countries.
On November 9, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping held talks with visiting Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. This is the new Indonesian President's first foreign trip to raise Jakarta's position in the international arena.
Speaking at a joint press conference, President Xi Jinping affirmed that China wishes to work with Indonesia to write a new chapter of self-reliance, solidarity and cooperation, with mutual benefit as major developing countries.
For his part, Mr. Prabowo stressed that the relationship between Jakarta and Beijing is getting stronger. He reiterated his commitment to cooperate for the common interests of the two peoples and for the prosperity, peace and stability of the whole of Asia.
China is Mr Prabowo's first stop on his first foreign trip as president.
As planned, during his visit to China from November 8-10, Mr. Prabowo also met with a number of other high-ranking officials of the host country such as Prime Minister Li Qiang and Head of the Central Organization Department of the Communist Party of China, Mr. Zhao Leji.
Mr. Prabowo will then continue his tour of a series of countries, including the United States, Peru, Brazil and the United Kingdom.
