Pham Hong Huy, a student at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong), is living alone in a rented house, diligently studying for the national excellent student exam.
In a small rented house in Nguyen Trai ward, Pham Hong Huy, an 11th grade IT student at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, is diligently studying to prepare for the upcoming national excellent student exam. Although he is only in 11th grade, with his outstanding achievements, he was chosen as one of three students in grade 11 to participate in the national excellent student exam for grade 12.
Huy shared that he is putting all his effort into studying to achieve the best results, not to disappoint the expectations of his teachers at school, friends as well as those who love him.
Huy lives in Nguyen Trai ward (Hai Duong city). Since going to school, Huy has always been a diligent and good student, achieving many high academic achievements. Notably, in 2022, he won the gold prize in the GMCC math programming competition. In the 2022-2023 school year, when taking the entrance exam to Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, he registered for two specialized subjects: math and English. As a result, he scored 49 points in math and 46.35 points in English. Huy chose to study math, then switched to studying IT according to his interests. In the competition for excellent students organized by the Association of High Schools for the Gifted in the coastal and Northern Delta regions this year at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Huy won the consolation prize in IT.
Talking about his study secret, Huy sums it up in two words: "diligence". In class, he always listens to his teachers' lectures. At home, he reads the lectures carefully, does similar exercises until he is proficient, then moves on to more advanced exercises. After having a solid knowledge, he focuses on doing exercises to react faster. He doesn't stay up too late to study, but when he sits down at his desk, he concentrates to achieve the best results.
Huy's situation is very difficult. His parents separated when he was 2 years old. He lives with his grandmother. The two of them depend on each other to get through the difficult days with his grandmother's meager salary. For more than a year now, Huy's grandmother has passed away. He lives alone, taking care of himself and worrying about everything.
Huy said that sometimes his father (in Cam Giang district) comes to visit and his mother who works far away also calls to ask about his life. Currently, his expenses mainly come from the living allowance of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted and the scholarship for top students in the class.
Talking with Huy's homeroom teacher, we learned that despite both material and mental difficulties, he always overcame adversity and proactively completed his studies well. Over the years, he has always been an excellent student, ranking at the top of the class. He always respected teachers and adults and helped his friends in their studies. Currently, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted has exempted him from all contributions and created the best conditions for him to study with peace of mind. The school arranged for him to stay in the dormitory for convenience in commuting and living, but he wishes to stay in his old house to pay respect to his grandmother and study in peace.
Huy's biggest wish right now is to always have good health to complete his studies as best as possible. In the immediate future, he will strive to win a high prize in the upcoming excellent student competition, then dream of entering Hanoi University of Science and Technology or University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi).
To realize that dream, besides Huy's efforts and the help of teachers and friends at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, he also needs the support of philanthropists so that he can study with peace of mind.
