North Korea has test-fired a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a new “automatic” guidance system in a bid to enhance its weapons capabilities.
North Korean media reported on the morning of May 18 that the country had test-launched a tactical ballistic missile equipped with a new “automatic” navigation system to enhance its weapons capabilities.
Information from the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the accuracy and reliability of the automatic positioning system was verified through a test launch on May 17 into the East Sea of the country.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the test launch.
This is North Korea's latest missile test launch after firing artillery shells from a 600mm super-large multiple rocket launcher on April 22.
South Korea's military said it detected North Korea test-firing multiple missiles from the eastern coastal city of Wonsan and the missiles flew about 300km before falling into the East Sea.
