The parties have yet to provide further details about this latest launch.

On June 26, North Korea also launched a ballistic missile toward the east of the Korean Peninsula on June 26. At that time, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that in the test conducted on June 26, the North Korean Rocket Force successfully conducted a test to control the separation and guidance of each mobile warhead using a medium-range solid-fuel ballistic missile within a radius of 170-200 km.

The statement contradicted an announcement by South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff that the launch was unsuccessful as the missile exploded in mid-air over waters east of the Korean Peninsula after flying about 250 km.
