Suspected Yak-130 military aircraft crashed in Buon Don district, Military Region 5 offered a reward of 10 million VND for the finder.
On the afternoon of November 8, Ms. Bun Som Lao, Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Na Commune, Buon Don District, said that the reward was recently announced to the locality by Military Region V. The authorities broadcast this information on the commune's public address system so that people would know and coordinate in the search.
The military issued the reward after analyzing data and conducting a search for the suspected plane crash in the Yok Don National Park area. The district authorities were also informed by local residents that they heard a loud explosion in the national park area at noon on November 6 - the time the Yak-130 had an accident.
Colonel Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 5, said that this morning, rescuers deployed thousands of officers and soldiers from many forces to organize a search in Yok Don National Park. The park management board sent 30 rangers to lead the way deep into the forest, along the Serepok River. The government mobilized people to prepare boats and canoes to support the force to cross the river to trace on both banks.
Yok Don National Park covers an area of 115,500 hectares (located in Dak Lak and Dak Nong), about 40 km north of Buon Ma Thuot City. This is the only dipterocarp forest in Vietnam with a rich and diverse ecosystem of animals and plants.
Two days ago, Colonel Nguyen Van Son and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan of the 94th Air Force Regiment (under the Air Force Officer School) flew a Yak-130 for a practice flight from Phu Cat Airport (Binh Dinh). At noon, when preparing to land, they discovered that the plane had a complicated problem, so they informed the flight commander and were allowed to parachute at the TB2 Shooting Range in Tay Son District. The two pilots were found that evening in the Ham Ho mountainous area, 10 hours after the incident.
During the past time, the army coordinated with localities to search in Tay Son district (Binh Dinh), Kong Chro, Ia Pa, Phu Thien (Gia Lai) and Ea Sup district, Buon Don (Dak Lak) to search for the plane wreckage, but there were no results.
