In Hungary, on April 8, people turned to their roots in the Hung Kings' Commemoration Ceremony, solemnly held by the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Hungary in the capital Budapest.
Delegates offer incense and gifts to the National Ancestor.
In Europe, all staff of the Embassy, leaders of the Vietnamese Association in Hungary and other associations, along with many representatives of the community and Vietnamese youth and students in Hungary respectfully offered incense at the altar of the Fatherland to commemorate the National Ancestor, National Mother, 18 generations of Hung Kings, to show gratitude to the merits of our ancestors, beloved Uncle Ho who built and defended the country, promoted fine traditions, and were proud of the longevity of the Vietnamese people.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Hungary Nguyen Thi Bich Thao highlighted the tradition of "remembering the source of water", the ardent patriotism and the spirit of national solidarity of the Vietnamese people throughout more than 4,000 years of building and defending the country, no matter where they are. These fine traditions have been vividly and clearly demonstrated in the work of protecting citizens and supporting more than 700 refugees from Ukraine by the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Hungary recently.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao proudly shared: "With the spirit of solidarity, thoughtful care, proactive and timely coordination, we have succeeded in lighting a warm fire in the cold last days of winter, partly alleviating the hardships and difficulties of our compatriots from Ukraine". The Ambassador thanked the community in Hungary for their love and noble gestures for our compatriots in difficulty and misfortune, demonstrating their noble humanity, willingness to support and share.
Mr. Phung Kim San, a native of Phu Tho, Permanent Vice President of the Association of Vietnamese in Hungary, shared about the traditional customs in "Hung King Worship in Phu Tho", a beautiful spiritual culture of the Vietnamese people that was recognized by UNESCO in 2012 as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Mr. Phung Kim San said that although the Vietnamese community in Hungary is not large, it always looks towards its homeland, actively participates in supporting compatriots in difficulty due to natural disasters, the COVID-19 pandemic... and is ready to contribute resources to help its homeland develop and promote the development of Vietnam-Hungary friendship. He emphasized that the joint efforts of the Embassy, together with the Association and other organizations, youth and students... have made a success in supporting compatriots in trouble from Ukraine.
Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao presented Certificates of Merit to groups with special contributions to citizen protection work.
On this occasion, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Bich Thao awarded Certificates of Merit to 9 groups and 29 individuals who made special contributions to citizen protection and supporting compatriots from Ukraine to evacuate to Hungary.
In a warm atmosphere of compatriots, the delegates enjoyed a hearty meal with dishes rich in the flavors of their homeland, reminiscing about memories to love the Vietnamese people more, vowing to unite to build a strong Vietnamese community in Hungary, working together to contribute their intelligence and efforts to promote the prosperous development of their homeland Vietnam.
