General Secretary and President To Lam meets with Chairman of the National People's Congress of China

On August 19, General Secretary and President To Lam met with member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of the People's Republic of China, Zhao Leji.

In a sincere, friendly and open atmosphere, the two sides informed each other about the situation of each Party and each country; shared information on building a socialist rule-of-law state in Vietnam and comprehensively managing the country according to Chinese law; expressed joy at the good progress in exchanges and cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China in recent times; in-depth exchanges and reached many common perceptions on measures to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and deepen the building of the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future.

General Secretary and President To Lam sincerely thanked the special sentiments and deep affection of the Party, State and people of China for the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; affirmed that the collective leadership of the Party and State of Vietnam is determined to inherit and promote the political legacy of the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong; and considered the consolidation and development of cooperative and friendly relations with China a consistent policy, strategic choice, and top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, multilateralization and diversification of foreign relations. General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that he is ready to work with General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and other key leaders of China, including Chairman Zhao Leji, to build a good and trustworthy working relationship, jointly orient and lead the relations between the two Parties and the two countries to continuously develop to new heights. General Secretary and President To Lam congratulated China on its great achievements in successfully implementing the first 100-year goal of building a well-off society in all respects; overcoming difficulties and challenges, maintaining stability and comprehensive development.

Chairman Zhao Leji affirmed that China considers Vietnam a priority direction in China's neighborly diplomacy; China and Vietnam are close neighbors, "mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers", with a long-standing tradition of friendship, the two countries have many similarities in political regimes, development paths, and socio-cultural traditions; both are led by the Communist Party, and are building socialism in accordance with the specific situation and conditions of each country. The Party, State and people of China wish to work with the Party, State and people of Vietnam to continuously consolidate, preserve and promote the friendly neighborly relationship, "both comrades and brothers"; actively implement the Community of Shared Future which has strategic significance for practical development, contributing to the construction of socialist modernization in each country. Comrade Trieu Le Te thanked General Secretary and President To Lam for his congratulations and positive assessment of the results of the Third Central Conference of the Communist Party of China; shared about the importance of the conference in deepening comprehensive reform and promoting Chinese-style modernization in the coming time.

General Secretary and President To Lam respectfully invited Chairman Trieu Le Te to soon visit Vietnam, and together with Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, to chair the first session of the Vietnam-China inter-parliamentary cooperation mechanism; proposed that the Vietnamese National Assembly and the Chinese National People's Congress maintain and promote delegation exchanges at all levels, exchanges between delegates, specialized committees, friendship parliamentarians' groups, and local Chinese National People's Congresses with the People's Councils of provinces and cities of Vietnam, contributing to deepening the friendship and cooperation between the two legislative bodies, commensurate with the new position of the relationship between the two Parties and the two countries; deploy and concretize the contents of the cooperation agreement between the two National Assemblies; promote the exchange of experiences in legislative work, further promote the role of supervision and urging the governments of the two countries to implement the common perceptions and agreements between the two countries' senior leaders; further strengthen the role of creating legal conditions and the function of urging and supervising to promote the improvement of the effectiveness of substantive cooperation in all fields, making it deeper and more effective; support each other at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums; strengthen coordination in ensuring the implementation of international treaties to which both sides are parties, for peace, stability, cooperation and development of the region and the world.

Chairman Trieu Lac Te expressed his agreement with the opinions of General Secretary and President To Lam on developing relations between the two Parties and countries and enhancing exchanges and cooperation between the Vietnamese National Assembly and the National People's Congress of China, and implementing the Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future, which has strategic significance. Chairman Trieu Lac Te suggested that the two sides continuously improve the level of interconnection, especially in the fields of railways and roads, promote cross-border cooperation zones; affirm that China is ready to import agricultural products with strengths from Vietnam, promote projects to improve people's lives, carry out many friendly activities on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025, and properly handle border and territorial issues. Chairman Zhao Leji affirmed that the National People's Congress of China is willing to further promote and deepen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam, actively contributing to the in-depth building of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future, bringing practical benefits to the two countries and peoples.
