Thailand's Constitutional Court issues ruling to remove Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin

On the afternoon of August 14, the Thai Constitutional Court issued a ruling to remove Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin for violating the Constitution in appointing cabinet personnel.

In the judgment, the court also stated that Mr. Srettha had violated ethical rules.

Mr Srettha, a leader with a background in real estate, is being sued by a group of former senators who say he violated the Thai Constitution by appointing a lawyer who had served time in prison to his cabinet.

With Mr Srettha removed from office, the 500-member Thai Parliament will have to meet to elect a new prime minister.
