This afternoon, a day after being taken out of Thien Huong Kindergarten by a stranger, a 3-year-old girl was found on Luong Khanh Thien Street.
Earlier, at around 4 p.m. on January 13, Thuy Nguyen City Police, Hai Phong City received a report that a girl had just entered the classroom, read the name of a 3-year-old girl, and then asked the teacher to pick her up. Seeing this, the girl ran after this person to the locker to get her personal belongings and then left the school together.
The family only found out about this at 4:30 p.m. When the baby's mother hired someone to pick her up, she was told that her child had returned home.
The class had 15 children and two teachers. Before the incident, one teacher left early because her child had to go to the emergency room.
Immediately upon receiving the report, the authorities took action, extracted the camera system, urgently searched for the child and initially identified the person who took the child away as Dong Thi Ha Thu (born in 2007, residing in Hoang Lam ward, Thuy Nguyen city).
“Hundreds of police officers from various units were mobilized and spread out to every corner of Thuy Nguyen City and Le Chan District to search and extract camera footage from each resident's home.
From the initial image at the gate of Thien Huong Kindergarten, the police extracted the cameras in the surrounding area and determined that after leaving the school, the subject took the girl into a taxi and stopped at the Tran Nguyen Han railway area (Le Chan district, Hai Phong city). After that, this person went into a small alley but then disappeared," the leader of the Hai Phong Criminal Police Department informed.
Determined to quickly “rescue” the child, that very night, the authorities cordoned off the area where the suspect was suspected to be moving and continuously broadcasted identifying information about the woman and child so that people could join in the search.
According to the leader of the Criminal Police Department of Hai Phong City Police, the characteristic of alleys in Le Chan District is that they have many small alleys, leading to many directions, and bordering many other areas. Camera systems are only available on main roads, while in houses in deep alleys, cameras are usually not installed. Meanwhile, the subject carrying the child went deep into the alleys, so he continuously lost track and was interrupted, making it difficult to trace.
With the spirit of relying on the masses, using the people as eyes and ears, the police force continuously sought every opportunity to get as close as possible to the area where the suspect was moving. The goal was to find the child as quickly as possible while ensuring absolute safety.
With the joint efforts and consensus of the entire community, at around 3:15 p.m. on January 14, when Dong Thi Ha Thu led her child out of an alley on Luong Khanh Thien Street, she was discovered by local residents and a police team on duty.
Immediately, the people took the child from the woman and calmed him down. The authorities also arrested the subject and brought him to the headquarters for investigation.
According to the Criminal Police Department of Hai Phong City Police, the child was also taken to the police headquarters and then the authorities informed the family. The child has now been returned to his mother and is in stable health.
"Fortunately, the child is safe, but the woman is mentally unstable, so when we joined the search, we were very worried about the child. When we saw that the child was still healthy, everyone on duty was very happy and breathed a sigh of relief," said a leader of Le Chan District Police who assisted Thuy Nguyen City Police in searching for traces of the suspect and the child.
