Craving drugs after a wedding, 6 people go to jail

At about 6:30 p.m. on December 16, 2023, after Dao Van Quyet (born in 1988) and Dao Van Hoan (born in 1994, both from Dai Ha village, Ha Ky commune, Tu Ky) returned from a wedding in the village, Quyet said to Hoan: "It's been a long time since I've been home from work, let's call Tung to meet up for a bit."

Quyet's intention was to ask Hoan to call Nguyen Van Tung (born in 1988, residing in residential area number 2, Ninh Giang town, Ninh Giang) to buy methamphetamine for use. Hoan agreed and called Tung to go to Dai Ha village to get money to buy drugs. Tung agreed and immediately asked Hoan to transfer money to his bank account to buy drugs. After that, Hoan asked Quyet to transfer money to Tung.

After receiving 300,000 VND transferred by Quyet, Tung called Vu Dinh Dung (born in 1986, residing in Bac Ta 1 village, Hung Tien commune, Vinh Bao district, Hai Phong city) to buy 300,000 VND of synthetic drugs in the form of crystal meth. Dung agreed, Tung immediately transferred the money. A while later, Tung and Dang Thai Nam Duong (born in 1988, residing in residential area 3, Ninh Giang town) rode a motorbike to Hai Phong city to meet Dung to get the drugs.

The subjects agreed to buy and sell drugs in Bac Ta 1 village, Hung Tien commune. At the meeting point, Dung gave Duong a red plastic straw containing synthetic drugs in the form of crystal meth. Duong put the drugs in his pocket and left with Tung. The subjects agreed to meet at the house of Tran Van Thien (born in 1989, residing in Dai Ha village, Ha Ky commune). On the way back, Tung called Quyet and told him to come to Thien's house.

Arriving at the gathering point at Thien's house, Duong gave Thien the straw containing the drugs he had just bought. Thien took the drugs to the kitchen and prepared plastic bottles, straws, foil, and gas lighters as tools for using drugs. At the same time, Hoan and Quyet arrived, then went down to Thien's kitchen with Duong and Tung.

Which object plays the main role?

When everyone was gathered, Thien used scissors to cut off one end of the straw containing crystal meth and poured it into a coong pot made from aluminum foil, heated it with a gas lighter, and then gave the straws to Hoan, Thien, Quyet, Tung, and Duong to use in turn. After everyone had finished using them, Thien destroyed the plastic tube and aluminum foil, and put the plastic bottle in the corner of the kitchen. At around 8:20 p.m. the same day, the working group of Tu Ky District Police came to inspect, discovered, made a record of the incident, and seized the evidence.

Expanding the investigation of the case, on December 17, 2023, the Investigation Police Agency of Tu Ky District Police summoned Vu Dinh Dung for questioning. At the police station, Dung confessed to illegally selling drugs to Tung the night before.

Recently, the People's Court of Tu Ky district brought the above case to trial. According to judge Nguyen Xuan Thanh, the presiding judge of the trial, Quyet was the one who initiated Hoan to illegally use drugs and told Hoan to call Tung to buy drugs. Quyet was also the one who transferred money to Tung to buy drugs, so he played the main role, the active practitioner. The subjects Hoan, Tung, Duong, and Thien played the role of practitioners.

For the above crimes, the court sentenced: Vu Dinh Dung to 2 years and 9 months in prison for illegal drug trafficking; Dao Van Quyet to 7 years and 9 months in prison, Tran Van Thien and Dang Nam Thai Duong to 7 years and 6 months in prison, Dao Van Hoan and Nguyen Van Tung to 7 years and 3 months in prison, all for organizing illegal drug use.

Among the above subjects, Duong has 2 previous convictions for illegal possession of drugs and robbery; Hoan has 1 previous conviction for illegal possession of drugs. The subjects continue to pay a heavy price for their indulgence in partying and drug addiction.
