Three more former Party Secretaries of Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc Provinces prosecuted in Phuc Son case

Two former Party Secretaries of Phu Tho Province and one former Party Secretary of Vinh Phuc Province along with three former leaders of these two provinces were prosecuted on charges of wrongdoing related to the major case at Phuc Son Group.

On December 26, at the annual press conference of the Ministry of Public Security, Lieutenant Colonel Vu Thanh Tung, Deputy Director of the Department of Investigation Police on Corruption, Economic Crimes, and Smuggling, Ministry of Public Security (C03) said that the unit has prosecuted 5 more defendants related to the case at Phuc Son Group, including: Mr. Pham Van Vong, former Secretary of Vinh Phuc Provincial Party Committee; Phung Quang Hung, former Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee; Ha Hoa Binh, former Vice Chairman of Vinh Phuc Provincial People's Committee; Ngo Duc Vuong, former Secretary of Phu Tho Provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Doan Khanh, former Secretary and Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee.

Five people were prosecuted for abusing their positions and powers while performing official duties.

A total of 38 people have been prosecuted in this case, after 10 months of investigation. The investigation agency has temporarily seized more than 315 billion VND, 1.97 million USD, 534 gold bars and 1,444 red books of the defendants.

When authorities investigated this case, Vinh Phuc was the province with the most people prosecuted when three provincial leaders, former Party Secretary Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, former Provincial Chairman Le Duy Thanh, and former Permanent Deputy Secretary Pham Hoang Anh, faced accusations of accepting bribes.

This case is under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Waste and Negativity.

At a press conference today, December 26, the Ministry of Public Security said that in 2024, the rate of handling denunciations, reports of crimes and recommendations for prosecution will reach more than 91%, higher than the target assigned by the National Assembly.
