Vietnam U19 soon ran out of chances to pass the group stage of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament after the second round. Coach Hua Hien Vinh and his team bid farewell to the tournament with a victory over Laos U19 on the afternoon of July 24.

Facing a weaker opponent, U19 Vietnam started well and dominated the first half. In the 7th minute, Le Dinh Long Vu assisted Nguyen Hoang Anh to score into an empty net to open the score.

In the 22nd minute, Hoang Quang Dung created a masterpiece for the second time at the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament. The midfielder wearing the number 14 shirt took a long-range shot that sent the ball to the top corner of the goal to double the gap. Unfortunately for Quang Dung, he had to leave the field soon after due to injury.

U19 Vietnam dominated but the defense still had some weak moments. Nguyen Quoc Khanh made a mistake when he passed the ball back too carelessly, creating an opportunity for U19 Laos striker to steal the ball and shorten the score.

The goal caused U19 Vietnam to slow down. They could no longer maintain the attacking rhythm and dominating position like in the first half. It was not until the middle of the second half that the coordinated attacks reappeared.

Nguyen Cong Phuong was the standout player in this match. In the 78th minute, the captain of Vietnam U19 skillfully feinted to get past the defender before unleashing a decisive shot into the Laos U19 net.

Before the match ended, Cong Phuong showed his ability to observe and pass the ball intelligently by assisting Phung Van Nam to score. U19 Vietnam won 4-1 and ranked second in Group B of the 2024 Southeast Asian U19 tournament.
