On the morning of December 29, the Government Inspectorate held a national online conference to review the work in 2023 and deploy tasks for 2024. Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai attended and delivered a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai suggested that in the coming time, the Government Inspectorate should focus on timely and effective implementation of the Law on Inspection and the Decree guiding its implementation. Urgently review, revise and issue circulars guiding professional activities to ensure consistency and synchronization. Continue to closely follow the direction of the Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption and Negativity at all levels, the Government, the Prime Minister, and heads of administrative agencies at the same level to develop and implement tasks in the management field, both short-term and long-term, especially tasks according to the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the 5-year socio-economic development plan for the period 2021-2025.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai requested the sector to urgently implement the approved 2024 inspection orientation and plan in a focused and effective manner, focusing on inspections of sensitive sectors and fields that are prone to corruption and negativity, with many complaints and denunciations, and of public concern. Continue to seriously implement the Government's resolution, the Prime Minister's direction, and the Government Inspectorate's plan on receiving citizens and resolving complaints and denunciations. Close coordination between the central and local levels, promptly and thoroughly resolve issues at the grassroots level, and prevent "hot spots" from arising.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai emphasized that the sector needs to continue to synchronously implement policies and laws on preventing and combating corruption and negativity. In particular, it is important to effectively deploy solutions to prevent corruption. The focus is on publicity and transparency in the organization and operation of agencies, organizations and units; controlling conflicts of interest; controlling assets and income of people with positions and powers. Improve the effectiveness of detecting and handling corruption, focusing on inspecting sensitive areas, areas with high risks of corruption or areas with a lot of public opinion about corruption.
In 2023, the entire Inspection sector carried out 7,689 administrative inspections and 193,774 specialized inspections and examinations. Through inspections, economic violations of VND 257,703 billion and 616 hectares of land were detected. Proposed to recover VND 188,607 billion and 166 hectares of land; to deduct and exclude from the settlement value due to non-compliance with regulations and requested competent authorities to consider handling VND 69,096 billion and 451 hectares of land.
In the work of preventing and combating corruption, the Inspectorate has promoted prevention through the synchronous and effective implementation of many solutions. During the year, the whole sector discovered 114 cases and 176 people involved in corruption and corruption-related crimes. Of which, through internal inspection activities, 22 cases and 35 people were discovered; through inspection and examination activities, 54 cases and 97 people were discovered; through handling complaints and denunciations, 38 cases and 44 people were discovered.
Regarding the orientation in 2024, the inspection sector determined to continue to closely follow the orientation of the 2024 inspection program approved by the Prime Minister and meet the requirements of State management and socio-economic development at all levels and sectors to deploy inspection work; innovate in organizing the implementation of the inspection plan. Promote the application of science and technology in inspection activities, effectively implement the resolutions and directions of the Government and the Prime Minister related to inspection activities.
