The completed acquisition will make Thales a global leader in cyber security.
Thales says Imperva's customers include 35% of the Fortune 100 companies - the largest corporations in the US - and groups of companies in financial services, telecommunications, energy, healthcare, retail and e-commerce.
In addition, the French technology and defense group estimates that the acquisition of Imperva, owned by software investment firm Thoma Bravo, will bring it an additional $500 million in revenue.
“The acquisition of Imperva marks a significant milestone in Thales’ cybersecurity strategy. With this acquisition, we are seizing a unique opportunity to enhance our cybersecurity capabilities and take a significant step towards our ambition to become a world-class global cybersecurity company,” said Patrice Caine, CEO of Thales Group.
Thales Group executives expect the transaction to close in early 2024 after receiving regulatory approval.
Imperva, headquartered in San Mateo, California, employs more than 1,400 people and has a global footprint with threat monitoring capabilities in 180 countries.
The acquisition comes amid growing cybersecurity threats from criminal organizations and hackers. The cybersecurity market is expected to grow from $172 billion in 2022 to $267 billion in 2026, according to research firm Gartner.
