This announcement was made in the context of Apple CEO Tim Cook's 2-day visit to Vietnam, starting from April 15.

The leading US technology group announced the above information in a notice posted on its website, but did not specify the expected amount of investment, nor the identity of the suppliers in Vietnam receiving this investment.

CEO Tim Cook will be accompanied by several leaders of Apple's executive board to Vietnam this time. As planned, during the visit, Mr. Cook will have talks with Vietnamese computer programmers, students and innovators.

In a video posted on Apple's website, CEO Tim Cook sent greetings to Vietnam, expressing his excitement about coming here and his eagerness to meet creators and developers in the technology field.

Since 2019, Apple has spent nearly $16 billion on local suppliers and has doubled its annual spending in Vietnam over the same period, according to Apple. Since it began operating in Vietnam more than a decade ago, Apple has directly and indirectly supported more than 200,000 jobs. Vietnam is now one of the world’s top five countries for mobile game production, and Apple’s app economy there has seen employment nearly triple since 2017.

In his statement, Mr. Cook added that in addition to working with local suppliers, supporting clean water projects and providing learning opportunities, Apple is also committed to continuing to strengthen connections in Vietnam.
