Strengthening security and order during Tet

On the afternoon of December 14, the National Assembly Standing Committee reviewed the National Assembly's report on people's petition work in October and November 2023.

Voters trust the Party's leadership

Presenting the report, Head of the People's Aspirations Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee Duong Thanh Binh said that voters and people trust the Party's leadership and policies, the State's management, the effective and efficient operations of the National Assembly, and the resolute management of the Government and the Prime Minister.

Many solutions to promote economic development, stabilize and improve people's lives have been actively implemented such as reducing lending interest rates, stabilizing the foreign exchange market; promoting disbursement of public investment capital; implementing credit packages to support industries and sectors; exempting, reducing and extending taxes, fees, land use fees, and supporting businesses.

Voters and people are interested in and following the foreign affairs activities of our Party and State leaders in recent times; the official visits to Vietnam by a number of heads of state, parliament chairmen, and prime ministers of a number of countries, especially the state visit of the General Secretary and President of the People's Republic of China.

These official visits have contributed to consolidating and developing the good relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation between Vietnam and other friendly countries.

At the same time, voters believe that these diplomatic activities will open up many cooperation opportunities, contribute to the country's economic development and continue to affirm Vietnam's position and role in the international arena.

In addition to the achieved results, voters and people continue to express concerns about the flood situation in the Central provinces. Climate change has caused landslides, coastal erosion, and erosion affecting people's lives and livelihoods. Unusual fluctuations in the gold market have affected people's psychology.

The world economic situation has many fluctuations leading to many difficulties in agricultural production, high input costs for production, while low output prices, combined with adverse weather impacts on farmers' lives.

Voters are particularly concerned about the recent occurrence of gold shop and bank robberies, where the criminals were very aggressive and used dangerous weapons, causing panic and fear among the people; the air quality situation is harmful to health, especially in big cities; many workers in Nghe An suffer from occupational diseases that greatly affect their health, even their lives, due to silicosis.

Voters and people expressed their indignation about the moral degradation in schools; in the curriculum of primary school students, there is a situation where schools include voluntarily registered subjects of the joint teaching program into the main curriculum and collect fees.

Voters believe that this is one of the forms of "extra teaching - extra learning" that needs more drastic and specific solutions in the coming time.

According to the report of the Government Inspectorate, the situation of citizens' complaints, denunciations, recommendations and reflections in November 2023 tended to increase compared to October 2023.

At the Central Citizen Reception Office, agencies received 824 visits with 1,925 citizens coming to complain, denounce, petition, and reflect on 822 cases, including 432 complaints, 100 denunciations, 290 petitions, and 72 large groups.

Raise vigilance and proactively prevent

Mr. Duong Thanh Binh stated that the Petition Committee requested the Government to direct relevant ministries, branches and localities to soon find solutions to overcome landslides or relocate households out of dangerous areas to stabilize their lives and production, and at the same time study long-term comprehensive solutions to effectively prevent the harmful effects of climate change; have effective solutions to stabilize prices and stabilize people's lives, especially poor and near-poor households.

The Ministry of Education and Training shall review and scrutinize the situation of schools including voluntarily registered subjects of the joint teaching program into regular teaching and collecting fees, and take appropriate adjustment measures; direct the inspection and strict handling of cases of school violence and insulting teachers, and have effective solutions to overcome the moral degradation in schools as well as end the current problem of school violence.

The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs directs the inspection, settlement and guarantee of benefits for workers suffering from occupational diseases, inspects and handles violations of labor safety regulations of enterprises (if any), and at the same time inspects, reviews and ensures labor safety for workers working in places with toxic environments nationwide.

The Ministry of Public Security strengthens solutions to ensure security, order and social safety, especially during the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Public Security Tran Quoc To highly agreed with the National Assembly's report on people's petitions in October and November 2023, especially the recommendations related to the functions and tasks of the People's Public Security.

Agreeing with the recommendations of the People's Petition Committee, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To said that in the coming time, especially during the New Year and Lunar New Year, the police force will coordinate and deploy throughout the force from the central to the grassroots levels to ensure security, order and social safety.

The Deputy Minister of Public Security also provided additional information on a number of issues related to security and order. Accordingly, recent incidents have been handled quickly and promptly.

The investigation process is urgent, serious, and follows procedures and regulations. However, at the end of the year, criminal activities often increase. Therefore, people must heighten their vigilance and proactively coordinate to prevent crime.

The Ministry of Public Security continues to coordinate with localities to do a good job of propaganda and prevention in the coming time.
