There will be a new roundabout at the Independence Square intersection.

The roundabout at the intersection of Independence Square (Hai Duong City) is being demolished to be replaced by a new oval-shaped roundabout.

*The construction unit is implementing a project to renovate traffic organization at Independence Square (Hai Duong City).*

According to the Management Board of Basic Construction Investment Projects of Hai Duong City, on the morning of November 17, the unit continued to construct the project to renovate the traffic organization at Independence Square after more than 1 month of suspension to overcome the consequences of the impact of storm No. 3 and serve the urban beautification to celebrate the 220th anniversary of the founding of Thanh Dong and the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Hai Duong City.

The construction unit is renovating the traffic organization at this intersection to ensure safety, renew the space and general landscape in the area. The renovated area is about 10,155 m², belongs to 3 wards Nguyen Trai, Quang Trung and Tran Hung Dao.

*To serve the renovation of Doc Lap intersection, on the evening of November 16, the investor fenced off the construction area.*

The project will renovate traffic organization combined with improving road surface, drainage system, lighting, and trees on the sidewalks at the intersection area, ensuring safety for vehicles passing through the intersection and convenience for pedestrians.

According to the design, the construction unit will dismantle the old roundabout island and arrange a new roundabout island in an oval shape, extending towards Hong Quang Street to suit the actual landscape view. At the beginning of the branches entering and exiting the intersection, there will be islands to guide and separate traffic flows.

In addition, the construction unit will renovate the road surface and sidewalks. Around the traffic island and the branches connecting to the intersection, there will be painted lane markings, road limits, arrows indicating the direction of travel, and some signs will be adjusted...

The project to renovate the traffic organization at Independence Square was approved by the Hai Duong City People's Committee for its technical economic report in July 2024. The project has a total investment of nearly 4.9 billion VND from the city budget. According to the plan, this project will be completed in December 2024.
