Hanoi is in the low tourist season, although the number of tourists to the capital since the beginning of the year has reached over 14 million, an increase of 13.7% over the same period in 2023, of which international visitors reached 3.14 million, an increase of 52.6%.
To achieve the goal of welcoming about 26.5 million visitors in 2024, including 5 million international visitors, the capital's tourism industry is actively promoting the destination's image and stimulating domestic tourism in Hanoi.
Variety of activities to attract visitors
With the goal of effectively using and exploiting Hanoi's tourism resources and facilities during the low season, the capital's tourism industry is focusing on attracting domestic tourists to Hanoi. The industry is improving the quality of existing tourism products, developing new groups of products that are truly high quality, attractive, and reasonably priced to meet the new needs and tastes of tourists.
The program “Hanoi people and tourists experience services at Hanoi hotels and resorts” encourages hotels, resorts, and travel agencies to build attractive service packages to attract city residents, domestic and international tourists to stay and experience. The Department of Tourism supports hotels and resorts to build and organize tourism products to attract visitors, increase room occupancy rates at tourist accommodation establishments, especially during low seasons.
Travel service businesses, airlines, railways, roads, and tourist destinations build tour packages to stimulate tourism; support price reductions and improve service quality for tourists when participating in tourism services in Hanoi.
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and other important events of the city, Hanoi Tourism Department organizes activities, events, festivals, cooperation programs, and tourism promotion.
Specifically, the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2024 with the theme "Hanoi to love - Hanoi gifts" taking place from August 23-25 on Tran Nhan Tong walking street will introduce unique and creative products and gifts of Hanoi people to domestic and international tourists. The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2024 with the theme "Quintessence of Ao Dai" is expected to take place from October 4-6 at Thang Long Imperial Citadel and satellite locations in the city, to honor the Ao Dai and cultural values of Vietnam and the capital Hanoi.
According to Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang, activities to promote destination images and stimulate domestic tourism are aimed at building and promoting the capital's tourism brand with unique, high-quality, competitive tourism products and services associated with specific markets to strongly attract domestic tourists to Hanoi, especially during the current low season. On the one hand, these activities also help promote links and cooperation between management agencies, associations, airlines, travel service businesses, accommodation establishments, transportation, destinations, etc., to create synchronization in the development of tourism products in the city.
Make the stimulus program effective
To create effectiveness for the stimulus program, Hanoi tourism industry implements synchronous and unified solutions, ensuring feasibility and suitability with the actual situation; focusing on implementing groups of tasks and solutions with immediate impact and a long-term policy system with impact to promote sustainable domestic tourism stimulus.
Hanoi Department of Tourism organizes specialized conferences to connect, cooperate and promote the image of Hanoi destinations, deploy the Plan to stimulate domestic tourism in the city in 2024 to tourism service businesses to share experiences, propose tasks and solutions to remove difficulties for businesses, and a roadmap to promote domestic tourism development in the short and long term.

Hanoi Department of Tourism also organizes activities to link, cooperate and promote tourism in key provinces and cities nationwide in terms of tourism, thereby introducing destinations, tourism services, cultural and sports events; Hanoi's tourism stimulus tour programs; signing cooperation agreements to exchange guests between travel businesses and destinations.
The city strengthens the construction and maintenance of a secure, safe, friendly, civilized tourism environment and ensures the rights of tourists. The Department of Tourism proactively and promptly coordinates with sectors and localities to take preventive measures; promptly detects and handles violations of the law in the tourism sector and receives and resolves recommendations and feedback from tourists.
Hanoi is focusing on developing tourism in the direction of high quality, branded, and highly competitive. Therefore, promoting the image of the destination, stimulating domestic tourism in all seasons of the year, especially in the low season, is being carried out by the capital's tourism industry, in order to boost the growth of the number of visitors, attracting more visitors to Hanoi.
