Choosing to learn a trade, many people in Hai Duong have gained knowledge, accumulated experience, and achieved success in their careers.
The right choice
Graduated from high school in 2011, Mr. Do Van Tin from Bac Ninh province had enough points to pass the university entrance exam but he chose to study at Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy. Contrary to the thinking of many people who value university education, Mr. Tin thinks that studying at a vocational school is also very good because it suits his conditions and circumstances and pharmacy is also his passion.
“Not many people feel sorry for me for choosing a vocational school in Hai Duong instead of going to university. But I think that if you pursue your passion, you can study anywhere as long as it suits your conditions. My point of view is to clearly define your choice, invest appropriately and study seriously,” said Mr. Tin.
In June 2018, Mr. Pham Xuan Son in An Thanh commune (Tu Ky) completed his military service. At that time, his family's circumstances were still difficult, Mr. Son determined that if he did not continue studying, it would be very difficult to find a job with a stable income. Holding in his hand the certificate of free vocational training from a demobilized soldier, Mr. Son decided to register to study driving at Vocational College No. 20 of the Ministry of National Defense (training location in Hai Duong city).
“At that time, I learned a trade and not only did I get free tuition as a discharged soldier, but the school was close to home, I could go back and forth during the day, and I didn’t have to stay at a boarding house, so the cost was very low. After finishing my studies, I had a job right away, and could help my family financially,” Son shared.
It can be seen that the idea that vocational training is only a last resort when you cannot get into university is incorrect. In reality, studying at vocational schools is also a suitable choice for many people. Currently, there are many vocational schools for students to choose from without having to study far from home, which is expensive. The study time at vocational schools is also not as long as at university. Vocational schools have many majors that meet the job needs of the market...
Success
After leaving vocational school, with the experience gained and their own determination, many people have successfully established themselves and started their own businesses. In 2014, Mr. Tin graduated from Hai Duong Central College of Pharmacy. After a period of working as a pharmaceutical representative, then opening a pharmacy in his hometown of Bac Ninh, in 2020, Mr. Tin opened Santafa Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company Limited (headquartered in Hanoi).
As a company manager, Mr. Tin encountered many difficulties. Therefore, in addition to the knowledge learned at school, Mr. Tin had to learn more, research products, find outlets, and expand the market. Currently, Mr. Tin's Santafa system has facilities in Hanoi, Bac Ninh, and Ho Chi Minh City and a medical manufacturing factory in Bac Ninh. The company system has developed with over 45 key products, selling about 1 million products each year, creating jobs for more than 300 employees with an income of 10 million VND/person/month or more.
Graduated from K4 Industrial Electricity course, Hai Duong Vocational College in 2008, Mr. Pham Van Thong is from An Son commune (Nam Sach). started working at An Phat Xanh Plastic Joint Stock Company (Nam Sach). Initially, Mr. Thong was hired by the company to work directly at the factory. However, due to his thorough training at school, Mr. Thong has good situation handling skills and a solid grasp of professional knowledge to apply in practical work. Therefore, he has achieved many high achievements and completed his work excellently. The company's leaders noticed the talented worker and appointed him as Head of Technical Department, with a high salary.
Recently, Mr. Pham Xuan Son was selected as a typical young man with good economic skills in Tu Ky district to attend the Congress of the Youth Union of Hai Duong province. The results that Mr. Son has achieved today are partly due to his solid foundation in the army and successful vocational training. At the end of 2018, after getting a driver's license, Mr. Son drove a truck to deliver goods for a company in Hai Phong. The trips with a lot of knowledge have urged Mr. Son to develop the economy in his hometown. He opened a fresh flower and ornamental plant shop for his wife to sell. He also worked for a company in Tu Ky town and developed the local worm farming business. From nothing, Mr. Son and his wife now have a good income. A stable economy is also one of the conditions that helped Mr. Son become the Secretary of the Thanh Ky village Youth Union (An Thanh commune), promoting Youth Union activities at the grassroots level.
In fact, there are many people who graduate from vocational schools who have stable jobs and high incomes. According to the General Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, about 90% of students who study at vocational training institutions have stable jobs and incomes after graduation.
Currently, Hai Duong has 18 vocational training institutions operating, with an enrollment of 34,600 students/year. According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, vocational training institutions in the area have linked training with over 100 enterprises inside and outside the province. 100% of vocational training institutions have selected training programs, evaluated, updated training programs and publicized training programs and output standards according to regulations. Hai Duong province is also considering building a tuition support level for vocational students in the area.
