Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has signed a Decision approving the list of members of the National Committee for Children (the Committee). According to the Decision, the Chairman of the Committee is Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha.
The Vice Chairmen of the Committee include: Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (Permanent Vice Chairman); Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training and Ms. Dao Hong Lan, Minister of Health.
The members include: Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, Deputy Minister of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (Standing); Mr. Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security; Mr. Nguyen Sy Hiep, Deputy Head of the Government Office; Ms. Dang Hoang Oanh, Deputy Minister of Justice; Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications; Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Mr. Vo Thanh Hung, Deputy Minister of Finance; Mr. Trieu Van Cuong, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; Mr. Y Vinh Tor, Deputy Minister, Deputy Chairman of the Ethnic Committee.
The Committee also includes Mr. Do Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Television; Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Deputy General Director of Voice of Vietnam; Mr. Nguyen Van Tien, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court; Mr. Nguyen Duy Giang, Deputy Director of the Supreme People's Procuracy; Mr. Hoang Cong Thuy, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; Ms. Ton Ngoc Hanh, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Hoa, President of the Vietnam Association for the Protection of Children's Rights.
The National Committee for Children was established in June 2017.
The Committee is responsible for assisting the Government and the Prime Minister in researching, directing, coordinating, urging, and coordinating between ministries, branches, and localities to resolve issues related to children and implement children's rights; proposing directions and solutions to implement issues related to children and promoting the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
In addition, the Committee coordinates with agencies of the National Assembly, the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuracy, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organizations, social organizations, and socio-professional organizations in implementing children's rights and resolving children's issues.
At the same time, the Committee directs and urges ministries, branches and localities to report to the National Assembly on the results of implementing rights and tasks related to children; reports on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child; and perform other tasks as required by the Prime Minister and competent authorities.
The National Committee for Children operates on a part-time basis, promoting the personal responsibility of the head. The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs is the standing body of the Committee, responsible for ensuring operating conditions and using its apparatus to organize the implementation of the Committee's tasks.
