Super Typhoon Usagi has weakened significantly after making landfall in northern Philippine towns, ripping roofs off homes as authorities brace for another storm.
Typhoon Usagi, known as Ofel in the Philippines, intensified into a super typhoon as it made landfall in Baggao town in the Philippines' Cagayan province on November 14. The Philippine weather bureau Pag-asa said on November 15 that Usagi had weakened and was now heading towards Taiwan (China).
Usagi is the 15th typhoon to hit the Philippines this year. There have been no reports of casualties from the storm. Thousands of people were evacuated before it made landfall.
Meanwhile, Philippine authorities are preparing for Typhoon Man-yi, which is expected to hit eastern towns and the capital Manila this weekend. Typhoon Man-yi is continuing to strengthen in the western Pacific Ocean. According to Pag-asa, Man-yi could become a super typhoon early on November 17. Evacuations to prevent damage will begin on November 15.
