The 36th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee will open on August 19.

The National Assembly Office said that as scheduled, the 36th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee will take place from August 19 to August 22 at the Tan Trao meeting room, National Assembly House.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man delivered the opening speech and, together with the Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, took turns chairing the meeting.

At this session, the National Assembly Standing Committee spent a lot of time giving opinions on: the draft Law on Electricity (amended); the draft Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Technical Standards and Regulations; the draft Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army; explaining, accepting and revising the draft Law on People's Air Defense.

The National Assembly Standing Committee also considered and decided to add the draft Law on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Health Insurance and the draft Law on Disease Prevention to the Law and Ordinance Development Program.

Regarding supervision work, the National Assembly Standing Committee will review the report of the supervision delegation and approve the thematic supervision resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on "Implementation of policies and laws on innovation of the organizational and management system, improving the quality and efficiency of operations of public service units in the period of 2018-2023"; review the report on the National Assembly's public petition work in July 2024.

The National Assembly Standing Committee also gave opinions on organizing the National Assembly Forum on supervisory activities; gave opinions on the draft Supervisory Plan and the outline of the report of the National Assembly Standing Committee's supervisory delegation on "Implementation of policies and laws on development and use of human resources to meet the requirements of socio-economic development, especially high-quality human resources"; in particular, organized the question and answer activities of National Assembly deputies for 1.5 days (live television and radio).

Regarding decisions on important issues, the National Assembly Standing Committee will consider and approve the Prime Minister's proposal on the appointment of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; consider and decide on the supplement to the 2024 State budget estimate of the Ministry of Health; consider and decide on the arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units for the 2023-2025 period of Can Tho city, Ninh Thuan province and Phu Yen province; consider and approve the draft Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee stipulating a number of contents related to the resolutions of the National Assembly Standing Committee on urban classification, standards of administrative units and classification of administrative units, arrangement of district- and commune-level administrative units for the 2023-2030 period to implement the arrangement of urban administrative units for the 2023-2025 period.
