Closing of the legal session of the National Assembly Standing Committee

On the afternoon of August 14, in his closing speech, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man highly appreciated the drafting and reviewing agencies for seriously preparing documents, especially for fully absorbing the opinions of National Assembly deputies discussing at the 7th Session of the 15th National Assembly.

The members of the National Assembly Standing Committee, with a high sense of responsibility, gave frank and sincere comments to complete the draft laws. The National Assembly Chairman requested that the reviewing agency continue to coordinate with the drafting agency to complete the content and promptly send documents to the Conference of full-time National Assembly deputies, scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30, 2024.

The National Assembly Chairman said that the 36th session of the National Assembly Standing Committee is scheduled to take place from August 19 to 22, 2024. Notably, the 36th session will include a question-and-answer session with ministries and branches. The National Assembly leaders chaired a meeting with the Government and ministries and branches to prepare for this question-and-answer session. The National Assembly Chairman requested relevant ministries and branches, the Ethnic Council, and the Committees to closely and promptly coordinate to prepare documents for the 36th session.

On August 8, 2024, the Government issued a document proposing to add 6 draft laws, including 5 draft laws proposed for approval according to the one-session process, 1 draft Resolution, 3 contents on important issues for the program of the 8th Session, 15th National Assembly. The National Assembly Chairman requested agencies to urgently complete the dossiers and documents to send to the National Assembly agencies for examination; actively urge and remind to ensure that the documents comply with regulations and have quality examination.

Regarding the draft legal documents, the National Assembly Chairman requested the Government to complete the dossier to supplement the 2024 Law and Ordinance Development Program. Of the 6 proposed contents, only 2 draft laws were supplemented: the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officers of the Vietnam People's Army and the Data Law. The National Assembly Chairman requested the Ethnic Council and the Committees assigned by the National Assembly Standing Committee to closely follow the progress, proactively study, prepare for examination, promptly report to the National Assembly Chairman, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, and report to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and arrangement in the official agenda of the National Assembly Standing Committee meeting if eligible.

Welcoming the Secretary General of the National Assembly and the Head of the National Assembly Office for arranging a very scientific schedule in the past 3 days, the Chairman of the National Assembly requested that the 36th Session of the National Assembly Standing Committee and the Conference of full-time National Assembly deputies balance the content, arrange it scientifically and qualitatively, ensure focus on major issues, and discuss different opinions to reach a final conclusion.

Regarding the contents that have been specifically concluded by the Vice Chairmen of the National Assembly, the Chairman of the National Assembly noted that the Secretary General of the National Assembly should coordinate with the Ethnic Council and the Committees to promptly issue conclusions for agencies to implement.
