Destroyed 350 peach trees of neighbors for Tet because of jealousy

On October 11, the Investigation Police Agency of Me Linh District Police, Hanoi initiated a case and urgently arrested Nguyen Viet Duc (born in 1986, residing in Kim Hoa Commune, Me Linh District) for intentionally damaging property.

Colonel Le Ngoc Ly, Chief of Me Linh District Police, said that on the morning of October 5, people in Phu Tri village discovered that many peach gardens in the fields of Bai Trai and Bai Dong had been vandalized by thieves, who broke branches and buds, causing the trees to be damaged and unable to be sold for the upcoming Lunar New Year.

Faced with the serious nature of the destruction of people's property, Me Linh District Police coordinated with the Procuracy and Kim Hoa Commune Police to examine the scene and arrest the suspect.

At the same time, Me Linh District Police worked with 28 families whose property was damaged, reviewing relationships and conflicts. Police determined that 350 peach trees were damaged, with the total initial value of property damage being about 923 million VND.

Me Linh District Police identified the suspects as Nguyen Viet Duc and Nguyen Quang Vinh (born in 1995), both from Phu Tri village, Kim Hoa commune.

On October 10, the Investigation Police Agency of Me Linh District Police summoned Duc and Vinh to the headquarters for questioning. Both admitted to the act of destroying the people's peach blossoms.

According to Nguyen Viet Duc, a resident of Phu Tri village, Kim Hoa commune, he grows ornamental peach trees like other households. Due to the impact of natural disasters, Duc's family's peach garden was affected and has no high aesthetic or economic value.

Jealous of other households with beautiful and valuable peach gardens, and afraid that his Tet peach trees would be ugly and unsellable, Duc came up with the idea of ​​destroying his neighbor's peach garden.

At around 1 a.m. on October 5, Duc and Vinh, after drinking at night, wandered around waiting for an opportunity to commit the crime. When they reached the road near the caretaker's house in Dong Gieng field, Duc told Vinh to stop the car. There, Duc walked alone into the peach garden of the residents and broke the tops of the ornamental peach trees.

Not stopping there, Duc continued to direct Vinh to go to the Dong Dong field area in Phu Tri village, then continued to destroy the valuable peach garden of the people. After committing the crime, the two subjects drove home to sleep.

The Investigation Police Agency of Me Linh District Police is consolidating the case file and strictly handling related subjects.
