Double joy at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted

As one of the three students who won first prize at the national excellent student competition for the 2023-2024 school year, Dao Huy Hoang, a 12th grade IT major at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, said: "I am very happy to have just won first prize in IT and to be able to participate in the exam to select high school students for national teams to compete in the regional and international Olympics in 2024. The joy is doubled because with this achievement, I will be awarded 50 million VND, 30 million VND higher than the previous regulation. This will be the motivation to help me study harder to achieve the best results in the upcoming exams."

Nguyen Xuan Thanh and Nguyen Hoang Khanh, students majoring in Russian, have just won first prize at the national excellent student competition for the 2023-2024 school year. They excitedly said that not only they but also their teachers and parents are very happy. This result is due to the two students' continuous efforts in studying and practicing, along with the support and help of their teachers and family... Thanh and Khanh plan to study abroad in Russia. The 50 million VND awarded will be used for their studies.

Sharing the same joy as many other teachers, Mr. Le Thanh Binh, a teacher at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, in charge of training the IT team, happily said that there were quite a few second prizes, but after 9 years, Hai Duong had a first prize in IT. This achievement was first and foremost the effort of both teachers and students, and at the same time, the new incentive policy has created great motivation for teachers and students to be more determined to achieve the best results in the upcoming exams.

“It can be said that the province’s new policies are very open and superior compared to many other provinces and cities. We are not only happy about the students’ achievements but even happier because both teachers and students will be honored by the province in the near future. With this achievement, we will be rewarded with 90% of the prize-winning students’ reward,” said Mr. Binh.

According to Resolution No. 22/2023/NQ-HDND dated December 8, 2023, stipulating policies for managers, teachers, students of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, Hai Duong province and experts participating in teaching national, regional and international excellent student teams, the levels of incentives and support have all increased. The 3 first prize winners of the national excellent student competition will be awarded 50 million VND/student by the province, an increase of 30 million VND compared to before. Each second prize is awarded 30 million VND, an increase of 20 million VND; third prize 20 million VND, an increase of 14 million VND; consolation prize 10 million VND, an increase of 6.5 million VND.

The collective of teachers participating in the training of the team will receive 90% of the total benefits of students who are rewarded according to the number and quality of the team's awards. Notably, for the first time, the collective of management staff including the principal and vice principal will also receive 10% of the total benefits of students who are rewarded according to the number and quality of the school's awards.

Also from January 2024, teachers of specialized subjects will be supported with 500,000 VND/month/teacher, for 9 months/year. The support money for teachers training national and international teams will also increase significantly. Dr. Trinh Ngoc Tung, Distinguished Teacher, Principal of Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted, said that in the 2023-2024 national high school competition for excellent students, Hai Duong won a total of 89 prizes, an increase of 18 prizes compared to the previous school year. In terms of the number of prizes, Hai Duong ranked 5th nationwide, up 1 place compared to the previous school year. The percentage of students winning prizes compared to the total number of candidates taking the exam was high, accounting for 82.41%, ranking 8th nationwide. Hai Duong has the number of first prizes in the top 10 provinces and cities nationwide.
