Black Shark, a gaming phone company backed by Xiaomi, has introduced a smart ring that can last 180 days thanks to the included charging case.
The Black Shark Ring is still in development. The device is described as having a stylish design, comfortable to wear, 2.2mm thick, and comes in two color versions: silver and black-red.
The black border in the middle divides the ring into two parts. Black Shark said the product supports smart touch and one-handed control, with full health measurement features such as heart rate monitoring, SpO2, and body temperature.
While the information ring models currently on the market have a battery life of around 10 days or more, the Black Shark Ring is claimed to reach 180 days thanks to the included charging case.
The company has yet to announce a launch date and expected price, but it has expressed its ambition to enter the ring-shaped smart wearable market, competing with rivals like the Samsung Galaxy Ring.
Several companies have launched AI-integrated smart rings. At CES 2024 in January, Lotus (USA) launched Lotus Ring with wifi connection, infrared port and touch button, allowing control of smarthome devices such as switches, TVs, lights with a simple touch.
Another company, Oura, has a similar product, while Apple has filed several patents for such devices. Statistics from Business Research Insight shows that the global smart ring market could grow from $20 million in 2023 to nearly $200 million by 2031.
