Professor Tran The Bao confirmed to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper that musician Ton That Lap passed away on the morning of July 26 at Hospital 175.
Musician Ton That Lap also has other pen names such as Tran Nhat Nam, Le Nguyen, Nguyen Xuan Tan.
He was born in 1942 in Hue, and held the positions of Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association, Vice President of the Vietnam Musicians Association, and Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Music Magazine.
Musician Ton That Lap composed many songs that are loved by music lovers.
During the resistance years, he participated in the "Sing for my people" movement. His compositions such as: Sing for my people; Get up and go (based on To Huu's poem); Go down the road (co-written with musician Luu Huu Phuoc)... were sung in the struggle movement of students in the South. After that, he went to the North to study at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music.
He left behind many songs that are loved by the public, most notably his compositions about love for his homeland and country.
