Recently, every afternoon, at Huong bridge connecting Quyet Thang commune (Hai Duong city) and Tan Viet commune (Thanh Ha), there are often a number of students gathering to jump off the bridge and swim in the river.
These students were not wearing life jackets, they climbed the bridge railing to jump into the river to swim. This was a spontaneous action, which could have been life-threatening. Gathering on the bridge also affected other road users, increasing the risk of accidents.
When Huong Bridge was under construction, many students came here to jump off the bridge to bathe in the river. At that time, the construction unit had put up signs warning of the dangers of jumping off the bridge. However, since the bridge was put into use, there are no more warning signs, and the situation of students jumping off the bridge to bathe in the river still occurs.
In Thanh Ha district, there have just been two tragic drowning incidents that resulted in the death of two students. Thanh Ha is also a locality with many cases of child drowning.
