The promise of devotion, dedication and commitment of the new General Secretary To Lam

With 100% of the votes at the 13th Party Central Committee Conference on the morning of August 3, Comrade To Lam, Politburo member and President, became the new General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The election of the head of our Party after the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on July 19 demonstrated the urgency, timeliness, and high sense of responsibility of the Party Central Committee and the Politburo in completing the Party's key personnel. The passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong half a month ago was a great loss for our country. The whole country has not yet stopped mourning, but clearly aware of the heavy responsibility in leading the Party and the country's stability and development, the Politburo and the Party Central Committee have proactively and urgently carried out the process of completing the General Secretary's personnel. This is an important and urgent task for the Party, the State, and our country, so it cannot be delayed.

After the new General Secretary To Lam was elected, gave his inaugural speech and held a press conference, many cadres, party members and people expressed their excitement when the Party Central Committee - representing the will and aspirations of the entire Party, people and army - selected a highly prestigious successor, demonstrated by 100% of the votes in agreement.

Comrade To Lam has been a member of the Party Central Committee since the 11th term (January 2011) and a member of the Politburo since the 12th term (January 2016). Under the direction of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, during his time as Minister of Public Security and Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Anti-Negative Practices, Comrade To Lam has made outstanding achievements in cracking down on many major corruption and negative practice cases. With a long history of achievements, important work and contributions, outstanding capacity and high prestige, on May 22, 2024, the 15th National Assembly elected Comrade To Lam to hold the position of President.

In his inaugural speech and at the press conference after his election, the new General Secretary To Lam affirmed his aspiration, determination and efforts together with the Party Central Committee, the Politburo and the Secretariat to inherit and strongly promote the glorious traditions and valuable experiences of our Party; to promote to the highest extent the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride"; to strengthen solidarity and unity within the Party and the great national solidarity; to connect thoughts and actions, the Party's will and the people's hearts; to strive to successfully implement the Party's policies and guidelines, first of all the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party; to be devoted, devoted, devoted, strive and sacrifice for the cause of the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, for a prosperous, democratic, fair and civilized Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and for the Vietnamese people to have a prosperous and happy life. Firmly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the goals of national independence, socialism and the Party's renewal policy; ensure the highest national and ethnic interests; wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people, taking the people's happiness as the joy and reason for living...

After the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, an issue that many party members and people are concerned about is whether the Party building work and the "furnace-burning" campaign will continue to be maintained and promoted. This issue was strongly affirmed by the new General Secretary To Lam: "Focus on building a truly clean and strong Party; resolutely and persistently fight against corruption and negativity; build a contingent of cadres and party members with sufficient qualities, capacity, prestige, equal to the task, wholeheartedly serving the Fatherland and the people."

We believe that under the leadership of the Party Central Committee, headed by General Secretary To Lam, in the coming time, our country will gain many new victories, successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, bring the country to prosperous development, and the people to a happy life!
