Hai Duong people look forward to watching high-altitude fireworks

Only a few hours left until New Year's Eve, entering the new year of Giap Thin 2024. The sky of Hai Duong tonight will be bright with brilliant and eye-catching fireworks displays. Especially in Hai Duong city, as this is the first year the city coordinates to organize high-altitude fireworks displays.

Fireworks night will be beautiful

Having just moved from Tu Ky town to Nhi Chau ward (Hai Duong city) a few weeks ago, Mr. Tran Minh Hieu, born in 2000, is looking forward to the New Year's Eve to watch fireworks with his wife and nearly 3-year-old daughter. "A year ago, I read an article in Hai Duong Newspaper about New Year's Eve fireworks. My wife and I wondered when it would be our turn to watch fireworks in the city. Finally, we will fulfill that wish tonight. It's even more special because this year the city will launch high-altitude fireworks for the first time," Mr. Hieu shared.

If for Mr. Hieu, the city's fireworks night is a feeling of excitement and anticipation, then for Ms. Lam Thu Huong, it is a feeling of reunion and gathering. Having both Vietnamese and Chinese blood in her, and having settled in Wellington, the windy capital of New Zealand for 14 years, for Ms. Huong, every time she returns to Hai Duong to celebrate Tet is a time filled with memories. "My house is quite close to Bach Dang Park, but for many reasons, my family could not go see the fireworks last New Year's Eve. What a pity! Tonight, my family has planned to watch the city's sky full of fireworks together," Ms. Huong said.

Having attended the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival in July 2023 and directly witnessed world-class fireworks displays, for Mr. Le Thanh Nghi in Thanh Mien, the city's high-altitude fireworks display is something special. "The city will definitely sparkle tonight, not only from the colorful fireworks displays, but also from the constant development of the homeland. For my family, the high-altitude fireworks in Hai Duong will be the most beautiful," Mr. Nghi shared.

Hai Duong "heavenly flowers" welcome the new year

Sunflowers, single chrysanthemums, yellow dust chrysanthemums, weeping willows, sparkling golden waves, golden rain, silver rain, crackling palm trees... are the names of each type of fireworks among the 800 high-altitude fireworks and 120 low-altitude fireworks that will be launched on New Year's Eve this year. Following the direction of the Provincial Party Committee, Hai Duong City has developed a plan to organize a combination of high-altitude and low-altitude fireworks display to celebrate the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.

Hai Duong City has coordinated with Factory Z121, General Department of Defense Industry (Ministry of Defense) regarding the security of fireworks. On February 6, the City Military Command received all fireworks and equipment, gathered them at the warehouse; at the same time, organized sealing and guarding according to regulations. The unit coordinated with Factory Z121 to review, reconnoiter, and determine suitable firing locations. Due to the large number of fireworks that will be fired on New Year's Eve this year, preparations for the fireworks site were carried out from the morning of February 8 (ie 29th of Tet). By the morning of February 9 (ie 30th of Tet), the preparations were basically completed.

In order for the fireworks display event to welcome the New Year of the Dragon 2024 to take place safely and successfully, the People's Committee of Hai Duong City and the City Military Command have coordinated with the technical department of Factory Z121 to organize training, instructions as well as develop detailed plans and scenarios for the fireworks night. Tonight, the technical department of Factory Z121 will accompany the city to practice fireworks display.

The fireworks are connected to an electrical system to detonate, similar to the technology used at the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival. Each type of fireworks will be fired according to a script, ensuring a brilliant night sky. “The sky tonight will be ablaze with color, contributing to creating memorable New Year’s Eve moments,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Dinh Hoang, Commander of the Hai Duong City Military Command.

In order for people to fully enjoy every moment of fireworks and share beautiful images and moments of New Year's Eve, telecommunications units in the province have prepared many technical solutions and arranged permanent personnel. Particularly in the Bach Dang Lake area (Hai Duong City), Viettel Hai Duong has installed 4 additional mobile stations, 1 mobile vehicle, and upgraded the capacity of 4 neighboring stations. VNPT Hai Duong has arranged BTS stations to serve all 3 technologies: 2G, 3G, 4G, in which 3G and 4G stations have upgraded bandwidth capacity to minimize incidents related to the need to use mobile waves and mobile data traffic. "We strive to share memorable images and livestream moments of New Year's Eve with people," said Colonel, Director of Viettel Hai Duong Truong Cong Lich.

High-altitude fireworks appearing for the first time in the city's night sky is a special thing, but there is another special thing. That is, this year, nearly half of the localities in the province organized fireworks displays to serve the people. According to a survey by Hai Duong Newspaper reporters, this is the year with the most localities setting off fireworks with 5/12 units.
