For passengers with Vietnamese nationality, passengers over 14 years old (hereinafter referred to as adults) include: Passport; identity card (ID); citizen identification card (CCCD); identification card, certification of the armed forces; National Assembly delegate card; journalist card; party membership card; union membership card; car and motorbike driving license. In case the passenger does not have or has lost the ID card/CCCD, the passenger must have a personal identification paper with a photo attached and stamped by the local police at the place of residence.

Passengers aged 14 years and under (referred to as children) include: Passport; Copy of birth certificate; Confirmation letter from social organization for children being raised by social organization, only valid for 6 months from the date of confirmation.

When passengers buy train tickets online on the website or via the Smartphone application, they must accurately declare personal information consistent with their identification documents and information to get an electronic invoice (if they need an invoice) to serve as a basis for determining ownership of the ticket the passenger has purchased.

When passengers buy tickets directly at ticket offices at railway stations or at train ticket agents (not applicable to immediate tickets without personal information on the boarding pass), they must provide their full name and photo identification number recognized by law when purchasing discounted tickets.

For children, provide the child's full name and date of birth, and must also provide information of the adult traveling with them. For those purchasing tickets for someone else, provide the ticket buyer's information and declare the passenger's information as prescribed.

When traveling by train, passengers must bring their identification documents and relevant documents with information matching the information printed on the Train Boarding Pass to present to railway staff upon request. In case the passenger does not have a ticket (when discovered on the train or at the arrival station) or the ticket is invalid, a new ticket must be purchased to be allowed to travel by train.

An invalid ticket is a ticket used by a train passenger in the following cases: The information on the Train Boarding Pass does not match the information on the passenger's identification document; The information on the Train Boarding Pass matches the information on the passenger's identification document but does not match or does not exist on the electronic ticketing system; The Train Boarding Pass has been erased or altered and the information on the electronic ticketing system does not match the information on the passenger's identification document; The train number or date written on the Train Boarding Pass does not match the train the passenger needs to travel on.

Passengers using invalid tickets are considered to be travelling without a ticket and must purchase a new ticket.
