On May 8, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that the conflict in Ukraine could end in two weeks.
Reuters news agency reported that Ms. Zakharova's statement echoed the assessment made earlier this month by the European Union (EU)'s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Josep Borrell.
On the Russian side, on May 8, when asked about how to de-escalate the confrontation between Russia and the West, Ms. Zakharova said that the West had made rhetorical remarks about Russia.
“And what is needed to de-escalate, Mr. Borrell said: if you stop supplying weapons to Kiev, everything will end in 2 weeks. And this is the formula for de-escalation,” Ms. Zakharova emphasized.
