Strength in Unity

These days, in many localities in Hai Duong province, the 2024 firefighting and rescue competition "Fire Prevention and Fighting Inter-family Team" is taking place enthusiastically. This is a practical activity to supplement knowledge and skills in handling fire and explosion situations, rescuing people and property for members of households in the "Fire Prevention and Fighting Inter-family Team". The teams participating in the district-level competition are all typical inter-family teams in communes, wards and towns.

To win first prize at the Thanh Ha district competition, the Inter-family Group 10 in Nhan Bau village, Thanh Hong commune spent a lot of time and effort together to learn knowledge and practice fire prevention. Mr. Pham Van Hiep, Head of the Inter-family Group 10 in Nhan Bau village shared: “Not only when there are incidents or accidents, but normally families are very close. Whenever a family has work or encounters difficulties, the members of the group always visit, encourage and support. The district competition is an opportunity for families to see more clearly the strength of solidarity, and become even more attached to each other.”

In recent times, the countryside in Thanh Mien district has seen many improvements. Not satisfied with the results of meeting the new rural standards, people in villages and hamlets in the localities are still working together to open roads much wider than the new rural standards, installing modern lighting systems. Many villages and hamlets also have interesting landscape highlights. Most villages and residential areas in the district have public places with outdoor exercise and sports equipment. Gia Coc village, Tu Cuong commune is a typical example in the district of building bright, green, clean and beautiful countryside. However, talking to us, Mr. Phan Van Thuc, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Gia Loc village honestly shared that he did not know the total cost of the projects. “The village only stands up to propagate and mobilize people to join hands in building their homeland. Everything from upgrading roads, installing lighting, renovating welfare facilities to buying outdoor sports equipment is discussed and implemented by families in the same alley and neighborhood. Now, most of the work and movements in the village are the same, all are done voluntarily and unanimously by everyone,” Mr. Thuc added.

Share the sweet and the bitter

People in Zone 13, Binh Han Ward (Hai Duong City) enjoy a solidarity meal together on the occasion of the founding day of the Vietnam National United Front, the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, November 18 (documentary photo)

Every year, on the occasion of the founding day of the Vietnam National United Front and the traditional day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front on November 18, many villages and residential areas in Hai Duong organize community activities for everyone to participate in sports and cultural exchanges and have a solidarity meal together. On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, families in each hamlet and alley contribute labor and money to organize lantern parades and feasts for children. Adults celebrate and chat about village and neighborhood stories. Everyone wants to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere, strengthening the ties of village and neighborhood ties.

Remember the days when the whole society struggled to fight the Covid-19 pandemic, at the most stressful stage, many alleys, streets, villages, hamlets, communes, and wards had to be completely isolated, setting up "fortresses" to fight the pandemic. At that time, difficulties piled up, but in Hai Duong, no one, no place lacked food, clothing, or essential necessities. Each package of noodles, egg, bunch of vegetables, kilo of meat... was shared by people, houses, and places to families in every alley. For houses that had to be isolated, neighbors and organizations went to the fields to help cultivate or harvest agricultural products in time for the season. Those are still the touching actions and images that remain after the pandemic.

In recent days, right in the suburbs of Hai Duong city, when fish farmers in Nam Dong ward, Tien Tien commune unfortunately encountered a disaster due to dead fish, many benefactors and people came to visit and give gifts of encouragement. Although the gifts were not much compared to the damage, they still warmed the hearts of the families during the loss of property...

Wherever, whenever and with whom, neighborly affection is always an indispensable support to help people share joy and sorrow. Neighborly affection can sometimes be as simple as daily greetings, living in harmony, sitting together to untie the knots when there are misunderstandings and disagreements in life to make the emotional bond stronger and more durable.

By 2024, Hai Duong strives for 20% - 25% of wards and towns to achieve civilized urban status; maintain and promote 93% of cultural villages and residential areas; 90% of families to meet cultural family standards; 70% - 80% of people to improve their enjoyment and participation in cultural activities, preserve and promote traditional cultural values.
