Improving foreign language skills and international integration for youth

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has just signed Decision 1477/QD-TTg approving the Program "Supporting the improvement of foreign language proficiency and international integration for Vietnamese youth in the period 2022-2030."

The above program will be implemented both domestically and abroad from 2022-2030.

The program focuses on Vietnamese youth aged 6-30, with special attention paid to groups that other programs and projects have not covered, such as children, teenagers, and children in difficult circumstances, rural youth, young workers, economic youth, armed forces youth, and students at vocational training institutions.

The general objective of the program is to raise awareness among Vietnamese youth and children about the importance, necessity and benefits of studying, improving foreign language skills and practicing international integration skills; equipping them with knowledge and skills, creating a favorable environment and a healthy playground for youth and children to study, practice, improve foreign language skills and integrate internationally; promoting the dynamism, pioneering spirit and bravery of youth and children in equipping themselves with the necessary skills to improve themselves, meeting the needs of the 4.0 industrial revolution and international integration.

The program strives for 100% of grassroots, district and provincial Youth Unions to have at least one propaganda activity to raise awareness about learning and practicing foreign languages, especially English, and improving international integration capacity for local youth and children; 100% of Youth Unions at all levels to organize at least one free online foreign language and international integration skills activity and course for local youth and children; 100% of provincial Youth Unions coordinate with the Student Association, the Provincial Young Pioneers, universities, colleges and high schools to build and organize at least one foreign language playground, especially English, and activities to equip international integration skills for local youth and children; 100% of Youth Union, Association and specialized Team cadres at all levels to participate in the English Olympic Competition for young cadres nationwide.

By 2030, at least 10 million youth and children will participate in and benefit from the program's activities. By 2030, strive for 100% of universities, colleges, high schools and specialized agencies of the Youth Union at the provincial, district or equivalent levels to establish or regularly maintain at least one foreign language and international integration club.

The tasks and solutions set out in the program are to create a favorable environment and build a space to support the improvement of foreign language proficiency and international integration; create a mechanism for youth, children, young cadres, especially young cadres at the strategic level to study and practice, improve foreign language proficiency and international integration; provide documents, learning materials and forms for youth and children to have the opportunity to access, improve foreign language proficiency and international integration; effectively invest in youth, children and international integration in both breadth and depth; strengthen the mobilization of resources for international integration; raise awareness among Vietnamese youth and children about the importance of foreign languages ​​and international integration.
