"Based on the results of work with the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), there is no indication that the safety of helicopters on the Norwegian continental shelf is affected," said Kjetil Hove, CEO of energy company Equinor.

Earlier, on February 29, the operation of transporting crews to and from oil and gas rigs by helicopter was suspended after a helicopter crash on February 28 that killed one person and injured five others. Norway said it was considering grounding all Sikorsky S-92A helicopters of Lockheed Martin Corporation (USA) while investigating the incident.

The Norwegian Safety Investigation Agency is still trying to determine the location of the helicopter that crashed and sank hundreds of meters under the sea.

In 2026, an Airbus Super Puma helicopter returning to land from the North Sea crashed in the same area, killing all 13 people on board.
