Morocco wins Olympic men's football bronze medal

The men's football bronze medal match at the Paris 2024 Olympics was a match between two African teams. Against the underdogs Egypt, Morocco, with star Achraf Hakimi in the squad, scored the biggest win of the tournament so far.

Egypt were the team that took the initiative to play quickly to find an early goal. In the 7th minute, Abdelmohsen Hassan jumped high to head the ball towards the corner of the Moroccan goal, but goalkeeper Munir played with concentration to block the opportunity.

While on a high, Morocco received a cold shower from Abde Ezzalzouli's effort. The Real Betis striker fired a tricky shot into the far corner of the goal, leaving goalkeeper Hamza Alaa helpless.

3 minutes later, Ezzalzouli continued to shine when he sent an accurate cross to Soufiane Rahimi. Rahimi's task was just to jump high to head the ball, doubling the gap for the white team. Egypt almost lost all spirit after 2 consecutive goals.

In the second half, Bilal El Khannouss handled the ball skillfully on the edge of the penalty area, before unleashing a tricky shot. The ball did not go strong, but was tricky enough to force goalkeeper Alaa to pick the ball out of the net for the third time.

In the following minutes, Rahimi ended the day with a brilliant performance with 1 goal (minute 64) and 1 assist (minute 73). Defender Akram Nakach was the beneficiary with his first goal in the U23 National Team shirt.

Hakimi sealed the 6-0 victory with a superb free kick in the 87th minute. Morocco bid farewell to the Olympics with a resounding victory, becoming the fourth African representative to win a medal in Olympic men's football.

More than 20 years ago, Nigeria and Cameroon shocked the world by winning gold medals in men's football at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics.

The 2024 Olympic men's football final will be between hosts France and Spain. The match will take place at 11pm on August 9.
