The Japanese company will introduce a 7-seat SUV concept at the 2024 PIMS International Motor Show.
Mitsubishi has revealed the first images of a concept car that will be displayed at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). This is the first time the Japanese company has held a global debut at the event.
The car is being introduced as a 7-seat SUV. Mitsubishi said that this product clearly represents "Mitsubishi Motors", but did not reveal further details. The size, segment and platform of the car are still a mystery.
There are two hypotheses. Firstly, this could be an extended version of the XForce with an additional row of seats. The leaked image shows a boxy design with some lines similar to the Xforce that was first introduced to the world in Vietnam.
Vietnamese customers expect this model to replace the Outlander, a 7-seat SUV that has gradually become "outdated" in the Southeast Asian market. The Outlander model currently sold in European and American markets is not sold in Vietnam, partly because of its large engine, which will be subject to high taxes, pushing up the price of the car. If the new concept model becomes an Outlander exclusively for ASEAN countries, this will continue to be a product worth looking forward to like the Xforce.
The second possibility is a concept of the next-generation Montero Sport. While the current Montero Sport has just been updated, Mitsubishi says the production version will debut in 2025. The Montero Sport is another name for the Pajero Sport in the Philippines and some other markets.
Another question that has been raised is whether this is a model dedicated to the Southeast Asian region like the Xforce? The answer will be revealed at PIMS 2024, an event taking place from October 24-27 in Manila.
