May cause infection

Even if you take proper care of your baby’s ears, complications can still arise from earring hooks that are too tight or not properly sterilized. Additionally, babies cannot explain if they feel discomfort in the piercing area. Therefore, when piercing your baby’s ears, you need to constantly monitor their ears for signs of swelling and redness.

Many experts believe that children who get their ears pierced early are at risk of infection because their immune systems are still weak and developing. Therefore, it is best to wait until your child is old enough to get vaccinated against tetanus, and wait at least six months after the vaccination before getting their ears pierced.

May cause allergic reactions in children

Babies have no experience wearing jewelry, so it is difficult to tell if they are allergic to any of the ingredients in the earrings. Babies' skin may react to these metals by swelling and turning red.

Can self-harm

Babies can push and pull on the piercing and accidentally pop it out. Small pieces of jewelry can fall into babies' ears or be swallowed.

Dangling earrings increase the risk of injury to children. Loose pieces can easily get caught on clothing or bedding.
