Actor Tyler Christopher dies suddenly of heart attack at age 50

The 50-year-old actor was found dead in his apartment. His former colleague Maurice Benard shared the news on Instagram. According to Benard, the cause of Christopher's death was related to heart problems.

"Tyler passed away this morning after suffering a heart attack at his San Diego apartment," Maurice Benard said in a statement, calling Christopher a "gentle soul and wonderful friend."

"Tyler was a talent who lit up every scene he was in and was always excited to bring joy to audiences through his acting. Tyler was an advocate for mental health and substance abuse treatment, speaking openly about his struggles with depression and alcohol. We are heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend and are praying for his children and father," Benard shared in the tribute.

Christopher's manager also confirmed his death in a statement toE! News"This news is truly shocking and I am heartbroken by the loss. He was a talented actor and, more importantly, a great friend. My thoughts are with his family and friends," the manager shared.
