The first final round of the National Press Award "For the cause of developing culture, sports and tourism" was held on August 30 in Hanoi.

The final jury met, listened to the preliminary results, discussed and agreed on the list of works proposed by the Organizing Committee for awards. Specifically, there will be 5 A prizes, 15 B prizes, 25 C prizes and 50 Encouragement prizes to be awarded to outstanding authors and works in 5 types of journalism (print, electronic, radio, television and photojournalism). There will be 3 equal prizes to be awarded to Nhan Dan Newspaper, Voice of Vietnam Radio and To Quoc Electronic Newspaper - the press agencies with many works participating in the award.

The National Press Awards ceremony "For the development of culture, sports and tourism" is expected to take place on September 13 in Hanoi.

Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh, Chairman of the Final Jury, commented: In the context of the Party and State's interest in the cultural field, the establishment of the National Press Award for the Development of Culture, Sports and Tourism is very necessary. Right in the first organization with more than 1,000 participating works, it was a success for a specialized press award. The number of participating works was a surprise. In particular, in the television category, the number of works participating in the Award is relatively large, almost similar to print and electronic newspapers. That shows the special interest of press agencies in the fields of culture, sports and tourism, contributing to the overall success of the Award in the first organization...

The award was launched on December 26, 2022. By the end of the deadline for submitting entries (July 10, 2023 according to the postmark), the Secretariat - Synthesis Subcommittee received a total of 1,084 entries. This is a large number of entries, especially for an industry press award held in its first year. This demonstrates the high interest of journalists and the press public in the fields of culture, sports and tourism. The Secretariat - Synthesis Subcommittee reviewed, screened and eliminated 51 entries that violated the requirements of the Award Rules.

The preliminary jury evaluated 1,033 valid works; selected 131 best works to present to the final jury, including 35 print works; 30 electronic works; 20 radio works; 30 television works and 16 photojournalism works.

The works submitted to the Award are not only numerous in quantity and diverse in topics, but also of good professional quality, attracting the participation of many central and local press agencies. The works all adhere to major themes, vividly reflecting important events of 2022 - 2023 in the fields of culture, sports, tourism and family. The authors have focused on a number of prominent topics. These are policies and major issues on cultural revival, national cultural development, arousing the noble and sacred values of the Vietnamese people; commemorating the 80th anniversary of the birth of the Vietnamese Cultural Outline. Along with that are policies in state work on heritage; issues on preserving, conserving and promoting national cultural heritages and regional cultural heritages.

The articles also reflect on examples in high-performance sports, mass sports, sports for the disabled; policies to restore and develop tourism in localities after COVID-19; criticize bad habits, analyze the negative aspects of social networks in terms of culture, family and behavior. At the same time, the authors also point out difficulties, obstacles, and inadequacies in cultural, sports, tourism, and family work, thereby proposing innovative solutions to improve the effectiveness of state management, calling on the whole society to join hands to solve...

However, the Final Jury assessed that there is still a lack of topics on training cultural and artistic staff in all fields, traditional and modern culture. Other types of literature and art such as traditional music, symphonies, traditional visual forms such as lacquer, lacquer, wood carving, embroidery, etc. have not received attention. Sports topics need to be more diverse, not only the faces of those who have achieved achievements but also training work, the efforts of schools, and grassroots sports in mountainous and highland areas.

The Council members proposed and recommended the organization of the Awards in the following years. In particular, it is necessary to increase propaganda to attract the participation of press agencies, especially local press; balance the cultural field with the remaining fields to fully and comprehensively reflect the fields of the industry. There are also opinions that we should consider and invest more in digitizing works and uploading them to a centralized database, using press award scoring software to make online award scoring more convenient...
