Swimmer from Hai Duong Pham Thi Thu won two gold medals on the first day of the National Swimming and Diving Championship.

Both gold medals were won by swimmer Pham Thi Thu. In the 100m inflatable water jet event, Pham Thi Thu finished first with a time of 41.66 seconds, ahead of second-place Tran Thi Huyen Trang (Hanoi) with a time of 42.8 seconds. Notably, in the warm-up competition of this event, Pham Thi Thu was only fourth out of eight athletes.

Pham Thi Thu won the second gold medal in the 100m double fin event. Pham Thi Thu finished first with a time of 49.67 seconds, 10% more than the second place Le Thi Thanh Van. Le Thi Thanh Van won the silver medal. Pham Thi Thu and Le Thi Thanh Van are from Hai Duong and teammates on the national team. At the 32nd SEA Games, both female athletes won gold medals.

The remaining silver medal was won by Hai Duong in the 4x100m mixed relay for men and women by Le Thi Thanh Van and Nguyen Nam Khanh. In this event, the two swimmers from Hai Duong achieved a time of 3 minutes 13 seconds 24.

The 2023 National Swimming and Diving Championship is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from October 18 to 21, with 18 delegations and 160 athletes participating.

Coach Pham Dang Khoa of Hai Duong said that Hai Duong team has 12 athletes participating in the tournament, participating in 15 out of 26 events.
